Similkameen Skies

Skywatch Friday

Friday, March 4th, 2011

When dawn arrived on the last day of February the hills were all veiled with snow clouds and mist,

but by noon we were giddy with blue skies and sunshine

The air was balmy

and felt like spring

despite the fact the hills were still covered with snow

When evening came, towards the west the bushes were burning
and the flaming clouds stretched out in all directions

A pretty promise for a Shepherd's Delight

For many more beautiful skies from around the world visit here at Skywatch Friday.

  6. I suppose the air can be balmy when snow is still on the hills. And what gorgeous hills they seem to be. I'll have to go and see if I can find some images in your blog of these hills in the summer.

  7. Your photos make me feel so happy, Hildred, and this series particularly so. I do miss the hills of the BC interior, so it's wonderful to see them. The Similkameen is so much like the Okanagan.

  9. Nice series. But I can honestly say I am tired of snow. I don't even want to go the CDR until some more of the snow melts! Have a great weekend.

The early blue hour is beautiful, the sunny day a glory in itself but the sunset now that is gentle yet magnificent in its own right.
