Skywatch Friday
December 31st - a magic night.

I have no fireworks in the skies to post, but we did have a beautiful sunrise the other day....

Beginning quite mildly but the sky was soon flaming

and there were gorgeous spots of celestial light above the snowy mountain tops

it all ended quite gently

with a few P.S.'s

Happy New Year to all with a few man made fireworks

Skywatch Friday
December 24th, 2010

Nothing interesting happening in the skies over the Similkameen these days - just mist and cloud and fog and rain forecast for Christmas Day.

Nice to remember what it was like in September.

The best this week had to offer, - lovely bright gash in the lowering sky, but fleeting.

Blessings at Christmas to all.

Skywatch Friday
December 10th, 2010

A variety of skies in the Similkameen this week, varying from no-sky a week ago, -
the clouds hiding the hills right down to the valley bottom, and the trees heavy with hoar frost

to a little improvement a few days later when the sun lit up some odd little clouds as it made its way to bed...

but at the same time there were some interesting clouds in the south that shunned the light

finally, - a vibrant and colourful sunset!

but no guarantees what tomorrow will bring.

Skywatch Friday
December 3rd, 2010

A misty November day..

In the morning the sky is a-blush, but the mist hugs the valley floor in the Cawston Basin.

Later in the morning we cross the pass to Penticton where the clouds wind around the hills
 and through the valleys.......

and rises as steam off Yellow Lake

Coming along the bypass on the way into town an osprey circles above, preparing to land
on its telephone pole nest.

On the way home we pass Luscious Lake in the sunshine

and eventually the road curves and we are in sight of K Mountain, where a few angelic clouds still linger.

A typical November day in the Similkameen, as it was when I first saw this country in the fall of 1943
when I came home with Charles on his embarkation leave and we became engaged.

What a long time ago that was, but the country maintains its rugged beauty
and the Similkameen Skies are a constant surprise.

Friday's Skies

A glorious sunrise that went on and on and on....

And in mid afternoon clouds raced across the sky; white feathers in a wild dance.

Today the mist hangs low and heavy over the valley.

November making itself known!
