Yesterday's skies in the Similkameen
After a beautiful quiet morning when I picked all the ripe raspberries and then went out for lunch - warning skies to the North
Large thunderheads in the West that resulted in great claps of thunder and a passing storm
The evening skies had a lovely glow and off to the North East the end of a faint rainbow
Bent across the sky almost directly above the town, it ended brilliantly half way up the Dragon's Toe
Eventually it brightened at the other end, but I was never able to get a complete picture as it arched across the valley.
In the West the skies caught fire and cast a most glorious light on the town
which eventually calmed down as dusk descended upon us.
I was thrilled, - we miss so many beautiful skies nestled here amongst the trees and houses in town.

Similkameen Skies
We weren't done with the storm yet. All night the thunder rumbled
and the sky was rent with great streaks of lightning.

Similkameen Skies
By mid afternoon the other day clouds began to gather ominously, and the weather stations in the Okanagan and Similkameen Valleys were broadcasting severe storm warnings.
At supper time the sun highlighted a few prominent slopes
but by 7.45 we were in the midst of as cloud burst, with the water streaming down in sheets,
and Callie, the cat, wide eyed at the noise of the deluge, snuggled under the duvet on our bed,
safe and sound.
after twenty minutes of cascading water the sun coloured the clouds
and I caught an image of the faintest rainbow over the Cawston hills
I have been told I missed some spectacular
clouds in the west for a short time, and my granddaughter says on Facebook that she saw a double rainbow, accompanied by lightning strikes.
We weren't done with the storm yet. All night the thunder rumbled
and the sky was rent with great streaks of lightning.
Callie was glad to see clear skies the next morning!

Similkameen Skies
From the back garden - nothing but blue, blue skies with a little toot toot of white cloud as if there was a steam train passing through....
