Similkameen skies have been mainly grey and dismal lately, - with just the occasional patch of blue thrown in to keep ones spirits focused on Spring.  Since we moved to town we are nestled in among trees and wires and white picket fences, and we don't see those wonderful wide skies to the East and West, but....

when I wandered into the kitchen last evening to do the after dinner chores look what 

I saw out the kitchen window!!!!!!

I moved down the hallway to the bedroom window which is a little more open to the sky

a few more steps and I was out into the garden

These may not be the most spectacular sunsets you will see here today, but I have to tell you they were a wonderful surprise to me!

Similkameen Skies

The middle of March, and the Ides of March at that!  We start off early over the Yellow Lake Pass to Penticton under lowering clouds and the threat of rain.

As we approach Penticton Munson's Mountain stands out against the foggy clouds that surround the hills.

Along the beach front the south winds blow the waves into whitecaps.....

Coming home I once again miss the rapid shot necessary to catch the blue waters of the dam in Maron Valley, far below the roadway, but the sky has lightened somewhat and the dried grass is that beautiful shade that I love so much.

As the highway makes a turn towards K Mountain and the Similkameen a patch of blue sky greets us, and the K on K Mountain stands out, white with recent snows.

Spring is coming, and if you visit here at Skywatch Friday

 you may see signs of it in other parts of the world.

Similkameen Skies

I am so thrilled to see these beautiful blue skies

and summery clouds!

I am not even going to go looking in the archives for a spectacular sunset.

I hope you enjoy these as much as we do, with their promise of warm spring weather.

Or am I placing too much faith in Spring, who flirts outrageously?
