At last, on Monday a lovely sunrise.

Not spectacular, but promising despite the old saying,

 "Red Sky in the Morning

Shepherd's warning".

I moved the straw mulch from the garden while the sun shone.

When dawn arrived on the last day of February the hills were all veiled with snow clouds and mist,

but by noon we were giddy with blue skies and sunshine

The air was balmy

and felt like spring

despite the fact the hills were still covered with snow

When evening came, towards the west the bushes were burning

and the flaming clouds stretched out in all directions

A pretty promise for a Shepherd's Delight
