A Misty Morning

Skywatch Friday
November 29th, 3013

The mist lies low on the hills and in the orchards this morning,
but as the sun rises the whole valley is suffused
with beautiful shades of rose and blue and lavender
and suddenly a grey day is filled with magic.

Similkameen Skies

Not Similkameen skies today,

but a wonderful November sunset from David, my son, in the Chilcotin country of B.C.

 Taken last evening.

Today they are blanketed in a foot of snow!!!

A last October Fling

Pewter Skies

October favoured us with one last beautiful sunrise, before the first snow arrived, then left, and in its place November's stormy pewter skies bear down upon us.......

Inside some toe-tapping music,  the smell of bread baking and some colourful handknitted mittens on the go all combine to lend a cheery atmosphere to nature's gloomy offerings.

Prairie skies are dear to my heart

Similkameen Skies

February 14th, 2013
Catch as Catch Can…….

Pretty sunrises here have been sparse on the ground, and even sparser in the eastern sky – as scarce as hen’s teeth, as they say.

However yesterday was an exception and the morning started off gently with  sweet pinks and roses.

Skywatch Friday

Finally, a patch of blue in our Similkameen skies, socked in all of January with  mists and

fog and dreary grey clouds

Similkameen Skies from the Archives

No clouds here lately to help create spectacular skies at dawn and in the evening,
 - just gorgeous blue skies all day long!

These are from the autumn of 2010, - mostly late October.  It was weather to wonder at!

Similkameen Skies - where Autumn seems more like Summer and the sky is a brilliant blue.....

Yesterday's skies in the Similkameen

After a beautiful quiet morning when I picked all the ripe raspberries and then went out for lunch - warning skies to the North

Large thunderheads in the West that resulted in great claps of thunder and a passing storm

The evening skies had a lovely glow and off to the North East the end of a faint rainbow

Bent across the sky almost directly above the town, it ended brilliantly half way up the Dragon's Toe

Eventually it brightened at the other end, but I was never able to get a complete picture as it arched across the valley.

In the West the skies caught fire and cast a most glorious light on the town

which eventually calmed down as dusk descended upon us.

I was thrilled, - we miss so many beautiful skies nestled here amongst the trees and houses in town.
